Welcome to the fifth age of media
Media has moved through distinct eras. Each one rewarded a different skill. The first was analogue: mass reach, limited precision. The second was digital, where targeting began. The third was search, where intent became measurable. The fourth was social, where platforms started shaping behaviour.
The fifth age is AI-native. Decisioning becomes intelligent — and that changes who wins.
Planning beats trading again
For two decades the dominant model rewarded buying power and trading desks. That advantage is eroding. When AI can model outcomes, fill data gaps and surface patterns faster than any team, the edge moves back to judgement: knowing which questions to ask and which channels actually drive the business.
That is the bet Project5 is built on. Senior planners, AI woven through the work, and a model designed around the client’s challenge rather than a fixed structure.
The agencies that treat AI as a multiplier for expertise — not a replacement for it — are the ones that will define this era.
